You Can Paint Classes (all ages & Scouts)
Adults & Teens Can Paint
At last an art class that teaches basic fundamentals and them “hows and whys” of painting while you are creating a detailed, realistic painting you start and finish in one inspiring class. Professional, certified Robert Garden Instructors teach simple, time-saving techniques, the science of color, brush loading and more that will enable you to compete for a different finished painting using oil, watercolor or acrylic you’ll be proud to frame and display in each 3-hour class. All art supplies are provided as well as a detailed lesson plan complete with one-on-one instruction and individual critiques. Bring paper towels and wear an old shirt. Class locations are in City Recreation Centers, ISD Continuing Education Programs, Robert Garden Studio, and private locations.

(Ages 14 and up) – 3 hours
Seniors Can Paint Class
We don’t care if you’ve held a paintbrush or can’t draw a straight line you will be amazed at the beautiful oil painting you can create in one fun and inspiring lesson. Beginners, as well as experienced artists, learn basics of color mixing, brushstrokes, and perspective while completing a detailed landscape or seascape under the patient guidance of award-winning “Teachers of the Year”, Susan & Robert Garden, founders of the Robert Garden School of Art and their Certified Instructors. All supplies are provided for you. Come with paper towels only and leave with a masterpiece! Class locations are in City Senior Centers and Private Retirement Centers.
Youth Can Paint Class
A Super Class for Kids!
Amaze yourself, family and friends with the beautiful oil, watercolor or acrylic painting you can complete in one fun & easy lesson taught by a professional, Certified Robert Garden Art Instructor.
You’ll learn color mixing and perspective, as you master time-saving shortcuts, which will help you, paint like the pros. All art supplies provided; oil paints, palette, brushes, canvas, and easel. Wear an old T-shirt and bring paper towels. Class locations are in City Recreation Centers, ISD Continuing Education Programs, Robert Garden Art Studio and private locations.

Scouts Can Paint
Introduction to Oil Painting – 1½ Hours
Discover the fun of creating your very own professional looking oil painting you will be proud to frame and hang under the guidance of a professional artists, Robert and/or Susan Garden, Founders of the Robert Garden School of Art, in one inspiring workshop. You will meet all the requirements for earning your Belt Loop in Art and several of the requirements for the Academic Pin. Your drawing instruction will include basic elements of design including composition, lines and balance. You will mix colors on a special palette arranged in aerial perspective so you can “trick the eye” and you will learn the values of color in an object using the color wheel. All art supplies are included; canvas, easel, brushes, painting medium and detailed lesson plan. Wear old t-shirt and bring paper towels. Leaders, parents and siblings are welcome to participate. Location National Scouting Museum, Irving Texas and in other troop meeting locations.
Brownies Can Paint (Ages 6-8) I½ Hours
Young artists can create a beautiful 8 X 10 landscape or seascape in oil or acrylic under the patient guidance of professional artist and Certified Robert Garden Instructors. Students learn color mixing, use of the color wheel, perspective, composition, line and time-saving brush strokes as they start and finish an amazing painting in this fun and inspiring class. The workshop incorporates the Hobbies Part 1, 4, 5 & 6 and Try-its; Hobbies and Color and Shapes with all art supplies provided. Masterpieces will be ready to frame and hang. Leaders are welcome to paint too!
Class locations are at Brownie Troop location, Robert Garden Studio or Girl Scout Camp locations.
Jr Cadets Can Paint (Ages 9-12) 2 Hours
Junior artist will earn a badge in Drawing and Painting as they complete a landscape or seascape using 2 mediums; pencil for sketching and oil or acrylic. Employ the color wheel for mixing colors, use time-saving brushstrokes and learn aerial and linear perspective in a step-by-step paint-along workshop with professional artist and Master Instructor, Susan Rogers Garden. Read and discuss women’s role in art and various career opportunities in art. After individual critiques student will be proud to frame and display their finished paintings. All art supplies are provided. Leaders are welcome to paint too! Class locations are at Girl Scout Troop location, Robert Garden Studio or Girl Scout Camp locations.
